The following links provide lists to protected species under NOAA Fisheries' jurisdiction. Some are protected by more than one law or treaty. If you do not find the species you are looking for, contact the appropriate office to find out if there are any requirements you must meet to conduct your proposed activity.

Threatened or Endangered Species (Federal)

Marine Mammals

CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species)

To determine whether the species you will be working with is listed on the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), visit the following web site:    https://www.cites.org

Oregon Species

Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife requires that individuals obtain a scientific taking permit for all fish, wildlife, and marine invertebrates you may capture or kill in Oregon.
